1990 Chevorlet Camaro RS
|
Welcome to my review of three cars from three different worlds. First is my 1990 Chevy Camaro. Although not the most sophisticated sport car around it sure has it's roots imbedded into many americans. I bought this car new in July 1990 in California. It's been with me ever since. Not only has it been a beautiful car to drive around in it has also been very reliable needing only routine maintance in the past 8 years. Big plus for GM. The car has a 5.0 V8 with 170 hp. Althought not much to write home about the 255 pound of torque is more that enough to get those tires smoking. Living in Germany I quickly learned that this car in not you high speed autobahn cruiser. Not to mention that it has a speed limiter at 110 MPH. My biggest complaint of this car is the body flex and rattle. I made this worst by adding sport lowering spring and thicker sway bars. I hope to fix some of this with a brace bar and other underbody bracing. Being bright red with chrome crager rims the car is a real head turner. Let's face it, cars costing 3 to 4 times as much do not look as good or have the history of the Camaro. On my scale of 1-10 I rate the camaro an 7.

I've had this car for almost 4 years and have loved every minute of it.This car has it all; sophistication, luxury, sportiness, and the name BMW. If a car was truly meant for the autobahn this is it. It will cruise at speed over140 MPH with unequal stability. With 211 HP, the 3.5 liter dosen't get going until it passes the 3000 rpm mark, then it takes off like a rocket. On the back curving German roads the BMWs weight shows with much body lean. Otherwise a very good car to own. Although servicing this car can be expensive, reliability is up there as noted by the 296.000 km on the meter and still going strong.I score this one a big 9.

1996 Toyota Camry
|
Our newest addition to the family is a 1996 Toyota Camry. Here is a car that does every very well without the excitement of the camaro or the BMW. The cars 2.2 liter will reach speeds of 120 mph it just takes time to get there. It's fully loading and I cannot prey this one of the wife except for washing days. Excellent all all around family sedan with great value for your money. I give this one an 8.
